Why Use Rotational Molding for Marine Water Tanks?
Rotational molding is an ideal fabrication process for marine water tanks due to its strength and seamless construction. In this process, virgin polyethylene resin is heated inside a closed, hollow mold to create a seamless one-piece tank.
The resin is heated to temperatures between 260°C and 370°C, evenly coating the mold surface. Centrifugal force during rotation ensures a smooth, watertight product with uniform wall thickness. Rotationally molded tanks have a longer life expectancy than other freshwater tanks and meet all potable water safety specifications.

Marine Holding Tank Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Our custom marine holding tanks are commonly used for boat fresh water storage, graywater tanks, RV tanks, ballast tanks, and other non-fuel applications. The roto-molded tanks are made from FDA-approved virgin polyethylene, providing a corrosion-resistant, leak-resistant option for a variety of uses. When sized and installed correctly, these marine water tanks provide long-lasting performance and can be a cost-effective alternative to many traditional tank designs.
Spin-weld fittings create a strong, permanent connection between the fitting and the tank wall. During the spin welding process, a polyethylene fitting is rotated against the tank while controlled pressure is applied. The surface plastic softens and bonds together, forming a single fused joint instead of a glued or threaded connection. This helps reduce the risk of leaks or broken fittings over time and allows us to place connections where they best fit your marine plumbing layout. The process is efficient, repeatable, and well suited for polyethylene marine tanks.
